I’m trying to get myself to use emacs, because it just seems like in theory I shoud be the kind of person who uses and loves it. However, I think my reflexes will need some re-training:
tim@tjc ~ $ vi ~/.emacs
Stupid websites everywhere are detecting “Opera 10” as “Opera 1”, and proceeding to lock it out because it’s too old. If you’re too dumb to do it right, just don’t do it.
(And no, you shouldn’t be doing this anyways. But nor should you have to work with IE, ever)
Any sufficiently complex technology is indistinguishable from broken
I was just about to add some regrettable code to GRiS to deal with certain fools who antialias images against a white background and then leave the actual background transparent - leaving text completely inscruitable if it’s not rendered against a white background (thus negating the point of transparency in the first place!). My hack wasn’t working, so I dug further. Turns out they’re using PNGs - just really, really awfully.
Perhaps antialiasing is the new unicode, where people who care get all uppity because people who don’t are clearly doing it wrong…
